Easter reminds us of the God’s wondrous power. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most hopeful event in all of history. But it’s even more than that. The resurrection is a living reality that can empower us every day. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us when we rely on God’s help in our own lives.

Resurrection power gives us the strength to overcome our challenges and enjoy the abundant life Jesus promises. Jesus tells us in John 10:10: “… I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” The Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 3:10-11 about embracing the power of Jesus’ resurrection: “I want to know Christ – yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.” Staying close to Jesus is the key to experiencing his power. Just as a branch must remain connected to the vine to bear fruit, we must remain connected to Jesus so we can live empowered by his strength. Jesus tells us in John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Spending time in prayer and meditation helps us stay connected to Jesus and the resurrection power he gives us. It’s easy to do so, if we build prayer and meditation habits we enjoy. Then it will feel like an opportunity (not an obligation) to pray and meditate. When we communicate often with Jesus, we become more aware of his constant presence with us and can rely on him to empower us in any situation.

Living with a sense of wonder is also an important way to stay connected to Jesus and his resurrection power. When we look for God’s wonder around us, we feel awe when we find it. The emotion of awe enlarges our perspective, which helps us look beyond our struggles and see God. Awe directs our attention to God’s presence with us and God’s power that is working to help us.

Psalm 46:10 encourages us to: “Be still, and know that I am God.” Taking time to slow down and appreciate God’s wonderful work around us renews our faith that the same God who raised Jesus from the dead is still at work today.

Living with wonder also reminds us that miracles are not just events from the past, but are unfolding around us right now. Everyday miracles like enjoying inspiration in nature or experiencing God’s love through other people’s kindness help us encounter wonder on a regular basis.

Wonder fuels gratitude, and gratitude strengthens our trust in God. The more we pay attention to God’s wonder, the more confident we can become that God will empower us whenever we need his help.

An important way we can experience resurrection power daily is through surrender. When we surrender our worries and weaknesses to Jesus, he fills us with his strength. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Jesus tells us: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” God’s resurrection power is not just for the extraordinary times in our lives; it’s also for the ordinary challenges we face regularly. When we live in the reality of Jesus’ resurrection, we begin to see that we can thrive – not just survive – every day, because we can rely on God’s strength to help us. Every challenge we encounter becomes an opportunity for God’s power to be revealed in us.

During this Easter season, let’s make it a priority to stay close to Jesus and embrace the resurrection power that’s available to us. Let us wake up each morning with an expectation that God is at work, and let’s go to bed each night reflecting on the many ways God has worked in our lives. When we do, we’ll walk in the wonder of God’s strength every single day.

Happy Easter!
